4The list of ten drivers to compete in the Michael Brown Planning Strategies Indigenous Drivers Invitational at Tabcorp Park Menangle on November 1 has been finalised.  The race will be part of the popular Fisher’s Ghost meeting and was won by reinsman Danny Gibson driving the Dean Cernovskis trained Scotlynn Jiggs in 2014.

Gibson will return to defend his title while two time winner Royce Gregory Jack will also be competing in this year’s event.

The full list of drivers is

  • Josh Aikien – A leading junior driver from Victoria
  • David Caffyn – A very talented reinsman from a famous harness racing family
  • Jess Prior – Concession driver from the Western Districts who has made a great start to her career
  • Jeff Brown – A former Indigenous Invitational competitor
  • Nathan Giles – A driver who has competed in Australasia’s greatest sprint, the Miracle Mile
  • Royce Gregory Jack – A two time Indigenous Invitational winner
  • Danny Gibson – Defending champion and qualified at Wagga in a heat
  • Bruce O’Brien – Inaugural Indigenous Invitational winner in 2011 and qualified at Wagga in a heat
  • Andrew Lincoln – Qualified at Dubbo in a heat
  • James Sutton – Qualified at Dubbo in a heat

The $10,000 race will be conducted for C1 to C3 pacers and is a penalty free event.  Nominations for the meeting close at 9:30am Tuesday October 27.

Other races programmed include

  • Driver Breakthrough Pace – for drivers who have not won a race at Menangle.
  • Trainer Breakthrough Pace – for trainers that have not trained a winner at Menangle previously.
  • Burke and Wills Pace – for horses trained further than 100 kilometres from Menangle
  • Loyalty Cup – for horses that have had at least six runs at Menangle during 2015
  • Blue Blood Pace – for horses trained in NSW whose both sire and dam were domiciled in NSW at the time of breeding
  • Ladyship Pace – for mares no better than C4
  • Trotting Mares – for mares T0 to T4
