7While there is never a bad time to support charities, the Festive Season is certainly a good time to support people in need. The Ballarat and District Trotting Club are once again hosting a Charity Christmas Carnival tonight with proceeds raised going to the 3BA Christmas Appeal.

This will be the third year in a row the Ballarat Trotting Club will be hosting the event with gates opening at 5pm, the event is again supported by the City of Ballarat. The family friendly carnival is an entertaining, low-cost night out for children of all ages – with rides like dodgem cars, disco spin, jumping castles, mini merry-go-round and roving entertainers providing great fun for children, with the club conducting the Carnival in the middle of the racetrack throughout the evening.

Peter Caligari, appeal director, officially opened the 37th 3BA Christmas Appeal on November 4. The Appeal will assist approximately 4500 disadvantaged and battling Ballarat area families by providing much needed cash, food items, toys and other essential items to the welfare agencies and charities to enable them to meet the huge demand for assistance, many of whom are living below the poverty line and who are suffering a level of hardship which most people would find difficult to imagine.

The carnival will be occurring alongside a Christmas themed night of harness racing. The carnival would be a great chance to bring the family for a full night of entertainment. Terrace Restaurant is open and bookings are $40pp where guests can enjoy a three course meal with $5 from each ticket donated to the appeal. Call 5335 9041 for bookings

We urge those who could to dig deep to spread Christmas cheer. Donation tins will be located at different posts around the grounds.
