3The Brilliant Keystone Del makes his reappearance at Tabcorp Park Melton on Saturday Night in the True Roman Trotters Free For All.

Keystone Del’s two runs back from a spell have been quite simply awesome. First-up he did plenty wrong but last start he was amazing sitting parked in track-record time. He looked beaten at the 400m but lifted like champs do to wear down Maori Time, who has won since.

Even though he is stepping up to what looks a more suitable 2240m trip, Dean Molander, husband of Trainer Nicole, is adamant Keystone Del is just as good at the sprint trip

“He has the two records at both Menangle and Melton over the sprint trip so I find it hard people saying he is not suited over that distance, but 2240m does suit and it looks a weaker field than last start,” Molander said.

Since his last start win he has trialled extremely impressively and Molander couldn’t be happier with him leading into Saturday night’s race

“It looks his race to lose. He went to the trials Thursday and he was perfect. He just takes a couple of runs and I think he is in the right frame of mind at the moment.”

Keystone Del’s stablemate Monorail is engaged in the feature trot but Molander concedes he faces a tough ask in this field

“He will need a lot of luck. He is obviously not in the same class as Keystone Del but he tries hard and if he can get a nice run on the pegs I’m sure he will be a good place chance.“

The pacers’ feature on Saturday Night is the Group 3 Casey Classic and we see another star here in Philadelphia Man engaged.

A brutal winner last week over a similar field you would expect he will work his way forward here and be very tough to beat again.

His main dangers are the Geoff Webster-trained pair Flaming Flutter and Franco Ledger but they face a tough ask drawing outside Philadelphia Man.

Saturday Night’s meeting features 10 races with the first at 5.32pm. The pacers feature is Race 8 at 9pm with the Trotters Free For All Race 9 at 9.30pm.
