If you believe in omens, then precocious filly Datsgood could be the bet for you this weekend.

Datsgood starts in the $20,000 Wayne Wilson Memorial Paleface Adios Classic at Albion Park on Saturday night and will start from gate four in the 1660m juvenile feature.

Prepared at Redcliffe by Donny Smith, the Mr Feelgood – Datsalife filly will be handled by leading reinsman Gary Whitaker.

Datsgood is raced by her breeder Keith Durston.

“I’m very much looking forward to the weekend, she was quite impressive winning on debut and we were fortunate to get the lead after Queen Zenobia galloped early. Her trial and work leading into that event was encouraging and we expected a good showing.” Durston said.

Her winning debut on February 21 at Albion Park in a time of 1:57.8 is the fastest time recorded by a juvenile in Queensland this season.

Datsgood recorded splits of 28.9, 31.8, 28.3 and 29 seconds.

“From the very beginning she always showed us something, Bruce Jenkins broke the filly in and educated her before Donny brought her along nice and slowly. Her work has always been nice and Donny is very patient which has played a big part in the making of the filly.

“Each time we gave her a preparation she kept improving so we were quite hopeful she would measure up, once we found the lead in that debut run I was actually having a little chuckle to myself because she can really roll along at a good speed.

“All of her work since that victory has been pleasing and we should end up in a pretty hand spot from the draw. It would be fantastic to win this race, all of my earliest memories in this game centred on Paleface Adios and getting to the track with my father to watch this great horse so here’s hoping.”

The Grant Dixon prepared Colt Thirty One has been listed as favourite by UBET following his impressive debut ten days and starts from gate two.

Datsgood sits on the second line of betting.

Last year, Maestro Bellini proved too classy winning the Wayne Wilson Memorial Paleface Adios Classic.
