April Club of the Month – Timaru HRC
Harness Racing New Zealand is thrilled to announce a new monthly feature, Club of the Month.
Similar to the Stable Shout concept where we recognize trainers who are exceeding expectations in terms of owners experiences, the Harness Racing New Zealand owners subcommittee wish to also acknowledge clubs who have gone above and beyond to ensure all owners (winning or otherwise) are looked after and appreciated on race day.
This month our winner is the Timaru Harness Racing Club, which was nominated by Nora Bishop.
Nora has always been grateful for the Club’s efforts to look after her and her owners when she has raced a horse with them.
“The Club has given me meal vouchers for owners to redeem at their wholesome little restaurant (The Grey Way Lounge) and always invite the owners up to the President’s room for drink in one of the most welcoming environments.”
“They also do a great job with initiatives like the Mother’s Day lady driver race series, and incorporate great events for mothers and ladies in the industry on the day. So that encourages people to bring their families along on course and celebrate ladies in racing.”
“The Timaru club also try really hard to have something for families at the track too which is always appreciated by owners with children. The kid’s lucky draw was always a hit with my kids!”
We congratulate the Timaru Harness Racing Club for going the extra mile for owners and encourage other owners to nominate a club they have had a positive experience with by emailing Jess Smith – jess@hrnz.co.nz
