HOW would you like to own a close relative to a pacer some are rating is the most exciting thing to come out of New Zealand since the immortal Cardigan Bay?

Along with boasting 23 wins and five placings from 28 starts, the star in question became the first four-year-old in the Southern Hemisphere to earn more than $2million with his third in last Saturday night’s Miracle Mile.

If you haven’t guessed the multiple Group One winner, it is boom entire Lazarus.

But how do you own a member of his family?

That answer is even simpler…via Australian Pacing Gold.

APG’s Ladbrokes Perth Sale features a filly which can be best described as Lazarus’ cousin.

By Inter Dominion winning stallion Mr Feelgood, the yearling is from Stars Aligned, which is from a sister to Bethany, the dam of Lazarus.

The family also includes Stars And Stripes, Light And Sound, Spirit Of Zeus, Davy Maguire, Our Crown Lady, Spiritual King and United We Stand.

Bred by local identity Bill Hayes, the filly will enter the ring as Lot 478 at the Belmont Park Racecourse on Sunday.

“She looks outstanding,” Hayes declared. “She is a leggy black, which just has everything going for her.

“Stars Aligned’s first foal, also a filly, qualified last week and is expected to race in late March. Her program has been kept around the Sales Classic in April.”

With several promising types in the sale, Hayes also has high hopes for Lot 435.

By Pet Rock, the colt is from Luvya Maddy Lombo, the dam of last season’s handy freshman Smoken Joe.

Also a handsome black, the youngster hails from the same family as Suave Stuey Lombo, Lombo Pocket Watch, Miss Trickin Lombo, Misty Maiden and Lombo Skyrider.

“He is a real athletic individual, which gives the impression he will be a natural two-year-old,” Hayes said.
