SYDNEY duo Cameron Hart and Jason Grimson has again captured an interstate feature with rising star Major Meister.

Grimson’s latest stable star went back-to-back to win Saturday night’s Group 2 Garrards Horse and Hound Bendigo Pacing Cup, just three weeks after capturing the $100,000 Cranbourne Cup.

Driven patiently by Hart, the six-year-old raced near the tail of the field and overcame a severe check with 600 metres to run to wear down his stablemate Sicario in the drive to the line.

“It has certainly been a great month down there for Jason and I,” said Hart.

“Jason’s horses are absolutely flying, and it was an easy decision for me, choosing to travel back and forth to drive them.

“And I will continue to travel to Victoria over the next two weekends before I turn my attention to the upcoming Sydney carnival.”

At tonight’s Penrith meeting, Hart has six drives on the eight-race program and believes his best winning chance is Red Trix, a consistent pacer trained by Peter Russo.

A handy winner three starts back at Tabcorp Park Menangle, the daughter of Auckland Reactor has drawn perfectly tonight in gate three and should be able to push forward and find a prominent position.

“Red Trix is an honest type that looks well suited in her race tonight,” said Hart.

“Looking at the opposition, I am sure the mare can find a forward position and then be hard to beat.”

Later in the program, Hart has another winning chance aboard Dreamy Castafiore in Race 7.

Another who is racing consistently, the four-year-old mare needs to contend with an awkward draw on the inside of the second row but has the talent to overcome the adversity, according to Hart.

“She will need luck from her backline draw,” he said.

“But her last few runs have been creditable, including a win at Penrith three starts back, so barring bad luck she should be able to get to them late.

“Overall, I do think I am in for a solid night.

“Still, as always, luck will play a big part in the outcome.”

Racing gets underway at the Penrith Paceway at 6:19pm and the Rickie Alchin-trained and Ricky Hunt-driven pacer Deebo will be well-supported to take out the race after drawing barrier two.

The colt rarely runs a bad race.
