Victorian horseman Matthew Craven is no stranger to success at New South Wales’ premier track Menangle.

The 37-year-old has won at the top level at the venue as both a trainer and driver.

Last Saturday night Craven had another highlight when training and driving a double.

The winning ways began with his four-year-old Bettor Isolate in a qualifier of the NSW Breeders Challenge.

It was the pacer’s first look at the Menangle track and he won in a sub 1:50 mile.

Bettor Isolate’s fast mile rate of 1:49.5 gave him first priority when it came to barrier draw selection for the $50,000 final this Saturday night and Craven picked barrier one for the Group 2.

“The red (saddle cloth) suits my colours and I’ll stick with that draw again,” said Craven.

“He pulled up terrific and his heart rate was lower than what he worked during the week which was surprising.”

Craven’s double was completed when his trotter Lotamuscle was also successful.

Meanwhile, at Newcastle tonight trainer Clayton Harmey is aiming for 1000 wins and three starters engaged.
