Booster, a seven-win pacer, assessed at C1, is forward to resume racing for a new trainer at Forbury Park on Wednesday night.
Booster (race 7), is now owned and trained at Washdyke by Jesse Wederell. He bought the 6-year-old from Brad Mowbray and Karen Calder soon after the gelding last raced three and a half months ago. Booster finished fourth in a claimer at Rangiora that day.
Booster won a trial at Oamaru on November 16 and he finished second in a workout at Methven on Sunday.
“I am really happy with him. He went really good to win his trial and blew out at Methven so he should be improved,” said Wederell.
Wederell has held a training licence for four years and he won a race with Garibaldi in 2014.
Booster won races at Addington and Omakau (an event for amateur drivers in January and his most recent win) when trained by Mowbray. Booster began racing from the Murray Brown stable in Invercargill. He won two races for Brown and another three (one at Forbury Park) for Nathan Williamson.
Bakari (race 2) is having his first start from the Westwood stable of Graeme Anderson, who has made a speciality of winning races at Forbury Park. The Gotta Go Cullect 3-year-old has been placed in three of his six starts when trained by part-owner Kevin Chapman. His opponents include the 3-year-old Royal Bengal, who qualified at Gore in August and has since finished second in two workouts.
Poppa Don (race 4) has been brought back from retirement. A winner for the Knight stable at Forbury Park in June, he was put aside with a hind suspensory ligament injury after one further start. He was subsequently used as as riding mount by part-owner, Genevieve Crawford, the junior driver with the stable.
