Leading Central Wheatbelt trainer Peter Anderson further asserted his dominance with two winners on Sunday at Kellerberrin. After yesterday’s efforts, Anderson now sits on 44 points, 28 points ahead of his closest rival Matt Scott, who sits on 16 points.

With just four meetings to go for their season, it’s going to take a lot to knock Anderson off his leading trainer pedestal.

Sharing trainer honours on the day, trainer/driver Michael Blakemore made the trip to Kellerberrin with his two runner Cullen Star and Goodealehmaddie NZ, with the young trainer saluting with both his runners, giving the 27-year-old a 100% winners to runners strike rate on Sunday.

Cullen Star kicked it off in the first with the two-year-old Allwood Stud Farm owned juvenile breaking through for his maiden win, running down the short-priced favourite Regimental Star to win by 6.5m in 2:00:9 over the 1730m sprint trip.

Allwood Stud had four of the six runners in the first on the card, with the prominent farm getting the race quartet for owner Bob Fowler.

Rusinol recorded his first win at start 11 for trainer Peter Anderson, giving driver Donald Harper the first instalment of his winning double on the day. The three-year-old gelding was left in the breeze early, but at the bell he had worked his way to the lead and that’s where he stayed, going on to win with ease in 2:01:2.

It was an early day for Blakemore, with Goodealehmaddie NZ taking out the third on the card. The $1.75 favourite led all the way, bringing up her second career victory in 2:01:5 over the 2130m.

With three horses in work, the full-time assistant track curator at Pinjarra gets up early everyday to work his horses before heading to work.

“I’m still fair buzzing, it’s taken me a long time to get my first double.” Blakemore said.

Donald Harper didn’t have to wait long for his second winning steer, with Raging Romeo getting the cash in race four for trainer C. Abercromby. Starting from barrier nine on the back line, he settled mid field and with around 600m to go, the six-year-old was put into the race three wide and went on to win with ease in 2:03:0 in the 2130m. Harper is currently 10 points behind the leading club driver for the Central Wheatbelt, sitting fifth on 32 points.

There was a blow out in race five with Thejewelinhereye saluting at $71 for trainer Hayden Reeves and junior driver Kyle Symington. With the fastest mile rate on the day of 1:58:2, the seven-year-old seasoned pacer recorded her 13th career victory at start 132, coming from towards the back of the field to win by a neck in impressive fashion.

After 22 months away from the winners’ circle, Over Armed finally broke a long dry spell by taking out the standing start by 9.7m in a mile rate of 2:03:8. Starting off the front line (the 10m handicap), Emily Suvaljko stepped the gelding faultlessly, bouncing to the front to lead all the way over the 2100m for trainer Tracy Reay.

Lang Inwood strikes again first up, with Our Surrogate taking out race seven just weeks since relocating to his stable. Driven by Deni Roberts, the seven-year-old came from behind to claim the win by 2m in 2:00:4, bringing up the geldings ninth career victory at his 46th start.

Peter Anderson closed the meeting with a win, with Royal Order getting up in the last with reinsman Cody Wallrodt in the sulky. The win gave owner Allwood Stud Farm an owning double on the card and gave the four-year-old gelding his first win since July 2020. In 2:01:7, Wallrodt waited patiently on the pegs, pulling out three wide on the final bend to win by 1.1m over the 1730m sprint.

Racing at the Central Wheatbelt Harness Racing Club will continue on the 29th of August, 12th of September, 26th of September and the 10th of October 2021.
