Boyanup trainer Justin Prentice is hoping for a change of luck when Bettor Get It On contests the group 3 RAC Members Save 5% Every Day At Retravision The Coulson Pace at Gloucester Park on Friday night.
The four-year-old New Zealand-bred mare has finished second at all of her four starts since resuming from a spell, with the margin being a head at her past two runs.
After two wins and two seconds from 15 starts in New Zealand, Bettor Get It On has had 15 WA starts for Prentice for four wins and eight seconds. She will be driven by Gary Hall jnr from the No. 2 barrier on the front line which could be a deciding factor in her clash with the brilliant Sahara Storm, the only three-year-old in the event, who will start from the outside barrier (No. 3) on the back line.
Bettor Get It On, who has worked hard in the breeze before finishing second at her past four starts, possesses good gate speed, but that will not guarantee her the early lead because Iona Diamond has drawn perfectly at barrier one. She has excelled as a frontrunner at her past two starts at Gloucester Park for a second to Run For Mercy and a win over Miss Eerie.
Bettor Get It On, who has a losing sequence of eight, is a full sister to Mr Fantastic, a winner at four of his 12 New Zealand starts and a winner at three of his six starts for Prentice in WA.
Sahara Storm, a winner at four of her 22 Victorian starts, has blossomed since entering Nathan Turvey’s Ravenswood stables two months ago, with her four WA appearances producing three wins by convincing margins and a second to Three Rumours in fast time.
Run For Mercy, to be driven by Chris Lewis for trainer Ross Olivieri, will also have many admirers. She has resumed after a spell in fine style with her first two runs after a seven-month absence producing an easy, strong-finishing win over Iona Diamond and an all-the-way victory over Burning Rubber. She will start from the No. 4 barrier.
