TALENTED youngster Lifeonthebeach is expected to bounce back to the winners’ circle after tomorrow’s Australian Pacing Gold heat at Tabcorp Park Menangle.

Successful upon debut at the same venue on March 21, Lifeonthebeach then finished second behind boom freshman Castalong Shadow a fortnight ago.

This time around the John McCarthy-trained gelding has drawn to lead throughout from the pole, with the champion horseman confident victory is within reach.

“He’s got the right barrier to come out on top,” McCarthy said. “He hasn’t been asked to come off the gate yet as he’s been driving quietly, but he does begin quickly.

“From that draw we will be looking to go forward and lead, which will make him hard to run down.”

Along with the son of Somebeachsomewhere, McCarthy has Golden Year in the second heat and Photozen in the third.

“They will both need a bit of luck, especially Photozen against Mark Purdon’s horse, Sicario,” McCarthy. “Hopefully they can do well enough to get through to the next round.”
