1A 90 percent clearance rate, a gross turnover of $906,700 and a large crowd were the highlights of last Sunday’s Bathurst Gold Crown Yearling Sale conducted by Graeme Board & Company.

Of the 113 lots offered on the day, 101 changed hands for an average price of $8,977. Forty-four colts sold for an average of $10,504, while 57 fillies sold averaged out at $7,798.

The top priced yearling was the black Aces N Sevens filly out of the NSW Oaks winner Scent, the dam of the 2014 Bathurst Gold Tiara winner Makes Every Scents and 2004 Edgar Tatlow winner Governor Art, which realised $36,000. The filly was offered by Maitland studmaster Paul Carmody and haltered by the John Gibson Family Trust.

The highest-priced colt was the Art Major-Rollon Rodi youngster, offered by Rutherglen (Vic.) breeders Graeme and Terry Gourley and knocked down to Bill Dawson for $26,000.

A filly by Four Starzzz Shark out of Outback Sage, a half-sister to Group 1 winners Antigua Bay and Marbles, which was offered by Doug and Janet Moore’s Brooklyn Lodge fetched $22,500 on the bid of Pat Bourke.

A pair of yearling colts, one by first-crop sire Auckland Reactor from the race-winning Northern Lights mare Lady Lara Lombo and the other by Courage Under Fire out of the WA Sires Stakes champion Edna Anne, both sold for $21,000. They were offered by Wayne and Anne Lamb’s Golden Gait Stud and Parkes breeder Tony Dumesny respectively.
