Two of Ken Barron’s rising stars look set to feature at different ends of the country tonight.

The West Melton horseman has just the one runner in at Auckland tonight but has a strong support card at Addington which numbers five.

In the North the unbeaten Amazon Lily will fly the stable colours.

The Bettor’s Delight filly will start from barrier one in a C1, C2 and C3 event for fillies and mares’ and looks a royal chance even if based solely on the fact that Blair Orange, who could have had close to a full book of drives at Addington, has remained in the North with the intention of driving her.

The first foal of the two-win mare, The Blue Lotus – Amazon Lily has been patiently handled by Barron.

She won her first race at Oamaru back in September and then backed that up 12 days later with a victory over Nerida Franco at Addington.

A fifth in a trial at Ashburton last week has been the only public appearance since that second victory – but a strong performance is expected off the ace today.

Back in Canterbury an in-form Wannabet will take on a strong field of three-year-olds in the Sires’ Stakes Silver.

The Bettor’s Delight gelding was an effortless winner at Timaru last Sunday but will find tonight a whole new ball game.

There’s some strong representation from the All Stars stable, including the talented Motu Premier as well as Robert Dunn’s Alta Las Vegas.

Barron will take the drive on Wannabet and could be expected to look to go forward from his three barrier draw.

His stable also has chances tonight at Addington with Anna Ivy, Roydon’s Jewel and McArdle Star.

The latter will be driven by Katie Cox in the junior driver’s event and looks a serious winning hope from a good barrier draw.
