Talented young reinswoman Jackie Barker got plenty out of Smoken Pump Action (Sutter Hanover/Craigpaula) to win the second race of the Harness Racing Training Centre Bendigo Central Victorian Concession Drivers Championship today at Maryborough.
Matthew Craven-trained Smoken Pump Action led and rated 1:58.2 over 1690 metres to hold off Stay And Play by a short half-head.
Barker, the granddaughter of legendary Hamilton trainer/driver Jim Barker and the daughter of Rod Barker, leads the standings in the series on 23 points, one clear of Nathan Weightman and six clear of third-placed Ashley Ainsworth.
Denbeigh Wade is fourth on 16 points and the winner of the first race of the series, Patrick Franklin, whose first ever career victory came aboard Glenhuggard, is on 15 points.
