THE Seymour name is synonymous with harness racing across the nation at the major tracks and now Kevin and Kay Seymour are expanding their sponsorship in celebration of 50 years involvement in the sport.

This time in New South Wales with the Kay and Kevin Seymour National Mares Final at Bankstown on August 18.

Carrying prizemoney of $12,000, more than originally advertised due to the Seymours generosity, connections of the winner will also receive a free service to Gotta Go Cullect or Hurrikane Kingcole.

Heats for this race will be held at Bankstown on August 11 with the conditions being for C2-C5 mares, four-year-olds and older.

Club source Colin McDowell hopes this will attract a quality field.

“Mr and Mrs Seymour are great supporters of harness racing in Queensland and it’s nice to see that they will take their sponsorship across the border especially to Bankstown,” he said.

“Hopefully this will reinvigorate trotting in Sydney and get Friday night racing in the Sydney bowl going again.

“But most importantly the heat winners won’t attract an assessment penalty but still race for fantastic prizemoney in the Final.

“Bankstown are offering opportunities that other tracks don’t so this race should attract plenty of nominations.

“This is what trainers have said they want.

“This is what Bankstown is delivering.”
