AS ONE Australian Pacing Gold champion shines during his highly-anticipated comeback, another will relaunch his career in Kilmore tonight.
Sidelined for 20 months after injuring himself in the 2018 Victoria Derby, Lumineer has been impressive winning his two starts since returning for trainer Ange McDowall.
Successful first-up in Terang a fortnight ago, the son of Sportswriter repeated the dose with an effortless victory in Geelong last night.
Triumphant in the 2017 APG Final, the five-year-old covered the mile in 1:55.1, stretching his record to an imposing 10 wins from 11 starts for earnings of $215,750.
“We’ve been very patient with him and given him plenty of time to come through,” McDowall said. “It’s been a real team effort and a lot of man hours put into him.
“It’s good to have him back at the track and coming through his races well.”
Missing in action for 13 months, The Storm Inside will reignite his exciting career for trainer Emma Stewart.
Winner of the APG Final, The Storm Inside has been absent from the track since suffering his first defeat in the Breeders’ Crown Championship – his first loss in 12 starts.
Found to have broken his back cannon bone, The Storm Inside has progressed well according to the premier horsewoman.
“We are very happy with him and are hopefully he can go on without feeling any affects,” Stewart said.
“He is certainly forward enough to win from barrier two, but it will just be good to see him back at the track.
“At this stage there are no plans for him, just see how he gets through tonight and go from there.”
