AUSTRALIAN Pacing Gold purchase Wrappers Delight continued his rapid rise to the top with another feature win in Melton during the weekend.
Boasting five wins from his eight last starts, while finishing second in the other three, Wrappers Delight proved too slick in the Smoken Up Sprint.
Driven by Kima Frenning for trainer David Aiken, the son of Bettor’s Delight led throughout to score in 1:52.5 over 1720 metres.
The five-year-old’s Group Two success follows his recent victories in the Group One Vicbred Super Series Final and Breeders’ Crown Championship.
Thrilled with Wrappers Delight’s progress Aiken has aimed him at Saturday night’s Victoria Cup in what will double as the gelding’s Grand Circuit debut.
“I couldn’t be happier with the way he is going,” Aiken said. “He’s been doing a sensational job since coming to the stable.
“With the right draw in the Victoria Cup he is going to be hard to beat.”
A 2015 Melbourne APG buy, Wrappers Delight boasts 15 wins and 12 placings from 40 starts for earnings of $292,884.
