Twelve months ago, Aristocratic Star was the $1.60 favourite for the group 1 Pearl Classic for two-year-olds when he set the pace and finished second to stablemate Manning.

At Gloucester Park on Friday night he looks a star bet on the ten-event program when he begins from the No. 4 barrier in the $20,000 Westsired Pace for three-year-old colts and geldings.

The colt, trained at Boyanup by Justin Prentice, will be driven by Dylan Egerton-Green, with Prentice confident he will prove very hard to beat, particularly if he manages to burst to an early lead and then dictate terms in front.

“He went good at his latest start and is a good chance this week,” said Prentice. “It’s a suitable race for him.”

Aristocratic Star was a $51 outsider from the outside barrier (No. 9) in a 2130m event last Friday week when he caught the eye by finishing with a powerful burst from seventh at the bell to be third behind Master Publisher.

Aristocratic Star was bred by the Allwood Stud Farm and is owned by Bob Fowler, who is hoping his bred and owned filly Star Fromthepalace will triumph in the Westsired Pace for three-year-old fillies. Aristocratic Star is one of five runners in the event who were bred by the Allwood Stud Farm.

Star Fromthepalace is the best performed filly in this week’s event and certainly has the ability to overcome the disadvantage of starting out wide at barrier seven. She has won at four of her past six starts and will be driven by the in-form Aldo Cortopassi.

Her chief rival looms as the Colin Brown trained and driven Fifty Five Reborn, a winner at five of her 14 starts and drawn to begin from the No. 4 barrier.
