There is no doubting her potential, but we are about to start finding out just how good Arms Of An Angel really is.

Those stunning runs behind Have Faith In Me in the Chariots Of Fire and Miracle Mile earlier this year whet everybody’s appetite, but injury and health issues since have limited Arms Of An Angel’s racetrack appearances.

The five-year-old has won both runs on the comeback trail, but the bar goes up in the Group 3 Kevin Robinson Cup (1609m) at Menangle on Saturday night.

The Shane and Lauren Tritton-trained mare does have the advantage of the pole, but meets fit, experienced and in-form rivals including Bettor Bet Black (gate two), Blazin N Cullen (three), Allblack Stride (four), Tact Tate (seven), Shannonsablast (eight) and Monifeith (10).

On face value you might think she will just lead and win, but that’s assuming she does everything right from an inside draw and has sufficient early “ping” to hold-out the noted blazing beginner Bettor Bet Black.

“She’s had a good grounding with the two runs back. There’s no doubt this is a bit harder again, but she’s ready for it,” co-trainer Shane Tritton said.

The Trittons also have a huge opinion of former classy juvenile Salty Robyn, who steps way out of his grade into an M0 race (race eight) at Menangle on Saturday night.

Salty Robyn is only a two-win country class horse, but has looked fantastic winning both runs this campaign in slick time and should be too good again on raw talent alone.
