The inaugural Shepparton Mixed Stock Sale, to be conducted by the Shepparton Harness Racing Club at their Kialla complex on Sunday, September 6, is shaping up as a ground-breaking event.
The 73 lot catalogue comprises yearlings by champion sires, going two-year-olds, three-year-olds and older racing stock and broodmares sired by and in-foal to the world’s leading stallions.
Lots 1 to 8 are all broken in, racing or qualified horses, while Lots 9 to 17 are two-year-olds broken in and educated by respected horsepersons.
Lots 12, 15 and 16 – a pair of Courage Under Fire two-year-old fillies and a Sportswriter colt – will be available for inspection on sale day at the pre-sale workouts from 10am. Inspection is also available pre-sale by contacting the vendors.
Updates on the progress of the preparation of Lots 1 through to 17 will be provided by the sellers on sale day.
Lot 37, the Modern Art racing and breeding proposition More Than Alright, is racing in top form at the present, having finished runner-up at Melton at her last start.
An auction of 2015/16 services to former NZ Horse of the Year Auckland Reactor and the trotting sires Peak and Great Success will be held at the conclusion of the main sale.

Phone bidding is available subject to buyer registration prior to sale day.
Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital veterinarians will be available for pre-sale inspection and yearling blood testing.
The Shepparton club is holding a complimentary breakfast from 8.30 to 9.30am with full catering on the day. A Happy Hour will be held between 12 noon and 1pm.
