FRIENDLY banter has already started ahead of tomorrow night’s Drivers’ Challenge at Globe Derby, with Ryan Hryhorec striking the first blow.

The inaugural edition of the series will see two teams of five battle across four races with bragging rights the ultimate trophy.

South Australia’s veteran All Stars are pitted against the next generation of Young Guns.

SA’s own version of Annie Oakley  – Kaela Hryhorec – will spearhead the Young Guns against the ‘geriatrics’, which include her uncle Ryan and her idol, Dani Hill.

Kaela’s Young Gun ‘regulators’ include Jayden Brewin, Jayson Finnis, Joshua Holberton and Ken Rogers.

Ryan and Dani will be joined by Scott Ewen, Wayne Hill and Lisa Ryan.

“I like to think I’m still on the young side, not one of the veterans,” Hryhorec quipped. “Nonetheless, these wet behind the ears kids need a lesson and that’s what they will get from us All Stars on the weekend.

“Speaking of lessons, will the club be providing Kaela and crew with training wheels for their sulkies?”

Hryhorec confidence was delivered a major boost after the was paired with promising mare Queen Of Sharkz in the opening leg.

“She is a nice mare, which is in good form and should be able to kick us off with a win,” Hryhorec said. “I’ve got a few handy drives throughout the series, as have my team mates.

“The All Stars will get together to have a drink after it top celebrate. Some of the other team aren’t even old enough to have a celebratory drink, or as will be the case, drowning their sorrows after the loss.

“Let’s just hope the club has a good stock of milk in bottles ready for them.”
