1Young Maryborough-based driver Jason Ainsworth has emerged victorious in the Harness Racing Training School Bendigo’s Rising Star Young Drivers Series.

Raced over three heats at the Bendigo and Maryborough Clubs, Ainsworth finished on 32 points, five clear of Ben Aubron on 27, with Ashleigh Stewart a further point back in third on 26 points.

Ainsworth’s win was set up with his victory aboard Lika Gee Six at the Maryborough Heat, and, despite finishing sixth in the final heat, had enough points in hand to take home the Series Trophy.

In presenting the trophy to the winner, Harness Racing Training Centre Bendigo’s CEO, Steve Warren, thanked the various trainers who had made their horses available throughout the Series. “Without this support these young drivers would not have had the opportunity to develop their race skills and assist them along their path to becoming our drivers of the future,” he said.

St Albans trainer Anthony Spiteri was the excited winner of the $1000 Trainers Bonus for nominating a horse for the Series, while the owners of Metroincharge also collected a $1000 Owners Bonus as part of the incentives provided for the Series.
