With the metropolitan meeting at Menangle on Friday afternoon, Greg Hayes from Harness Racing New South Wales has looked at the form for Newcastle on Saturday night. There looks to be a couple of good bets on the card and Sydney trainer Anthony Simiana looks set to be hard to beat with three legitimate winning hopes across the card.
The best bet appears in the last event – Modern Beach. Although it is always risky tipping a two year old having its first start as the best bet, Greg was extremely impressed with the performance of this colt in a recent Newcastle trial. He didn’t show a lot of speed in the early stages but savaged the line and couldn’t have been more impressive.
Next best is the Anthony Simiana trained Cant Explain It. The son of Mach Three was a good winner at Penrith last time out and despite the move to the back row he should be driven aggressively by Robert Morris in the early stages.
