For more than 40 years, Trevor Swan and his family have been breeding and selling yearlings including Inter Dominion winner Weona Warrior, recent champion Sushi Sushi and current star 3YO filly Golden Goddess. Why is Trevor so excited to be offering Lot 223 at the Sydney APG sale on Saturday, a bay colt by Rock N Roll Heaven from the Group 1 Australian Pacing Championship winner Ima Spicey Lombo?

“I first became interested in the broodmare Remit when she had both Whitby Timer and Whitby Heritage in the final of the 1990 Inter Dominion at Adelaide and I have since watched the family evolve to include Australian 2YO and 3YO Pacer of the Year Whitby’s Miss Penny $568k, Ima Spicey Lombo $483k, Ace of Whitby $317k, Akido Whitby $248k, Montana Anna $230k”, Trevor said. “While this was happening, a New Zealand branch of the same family exploded onto the scene and now boasts the superstars Adore Me $1667k, Christen Me $2169k, Have Faith in Me $875k, Dream About Me $431k and Hands Christian $321k.”

“I had followed the racing career of Ima Spicey Lombo closely and clearly remembered watching her lead throughout and demolish a very high class field at Gloucester Park one night which included Im Themightyquinn $4,567k, Has The Answers $1,326k, Talk To Me Courage $613k, Ima Rocket Star $412k, Albert Jaccka $400k, Jumbo Operator $313k and Can Return Fire $313k. When Mick Lombardo had a clearance sale three years ago I was quick to add the mare to my broodmare band. I am honoured and excited to be breeding from her”

Lot 223, a strong and handsome colt, is the 2nd foal of Ima Spicey Lombo. He is expected to warm up the ring when he enters it on Saturday.

Trevor will also be offering Lot 90, a gelding by Roll With Joe from Specialize (Artsplace – Sabilize) and Lot 318, a filly by Roll With Joe from Socialize (Artsplace – Sabilize). Both of these yearlings are from ¾ sisters to recent champion Sushi Sushi and are closely related to Golden Goddess, winner of NZ Sires Stakes 3YO Fillies Final in December in national record time.
