Launceston and Hobart held harness racing last weekend with the two Tier One meetings.

Brodie Davis continued his excellent form with a double on the Launceston card, while John Castles, Ricky Duggan and Heath Woods all landed a double on the Hobart card.

Another night of Devonport Harness Racing Club feature races will be held in Launceston, including the Ulverstone Cup, Max McCormack and the Leis.

The Stars

John Castles – prepared a double on the Hobart card with Nancys Hope breaking her maiden status and Moth Hunter, who kicked off her Granny Smith preparation in style. The Castles stables have a strike rate of 69.7% of runners finishing in the top three placings, which is the best in the state for trainers with a minimum of 20 starters.

Heath Woods – also trained and drove a double on the Hobart card with the wins of recent Easter Cup winner The Shallows and progressive three-year-old Custom Harley, who produced a tough but narrow win.

The Bride – the two-year-old daughter of Poster Boy broke through for her maiden win at her second race start on Sunday. Ricky Duggan took the reins on the Rodney Ashwood-trained pacer, who is a half-relation to Raider Stakes winner, Watchmylips.

Tammy Langley – recorded her 150th career winner in Launceston on Friday night when Scrub Basher scored at $19 in the first leg of the quaddie. Langley made it a weekend double after the win of Ideal Son in Hobart.

Nil Desperandum – continued his good form in lowly rated races when he won his third consecutive win in Launceston on Friday night. The win completed a driving double for Brodie Davis.
