The concept of Ready to Run sales has been tried and tested in both Australia and New Zealand many times over the past decade or two with limited success but NSW Standardbred Owners Association (NSWSOA)  seem to have found a niche market.

Always you will get the knockers, but the sale on December 6 held at Tabcorp Park Menangle was conducted with transparency and integrity.

The organisers are confident a market exists for such a sale in Australia, the sale can only get bigger as buyers look for well-bred two year olds that can go to the races and win almost straight away.

This year renowned Kiwi vendor Michael House transported a team over from the land of the long white cloud and was over whelmed by the success. He has claimed he will be back next year with an even bigger team.

While the sale looks set to get bigger and stronger next year the one thing that ensured keen bidding was the fact that the horses presented were quality rather than quantity, the organisers need to keep numbers around the 30 to 40 lots and ensure that the stock is well bred and capable of meeting buyers expectations.

Having John Coffey as the promoter of the sale was a good move, Coffey is well respected throughout the Harness Racing industry and is a hard worker at anything he puts his name too.
