The very popular “Best Moment” category is back for the Harness Racing New Zealand awards being held at Addington Raceway on Monday, February 19.

After much deliberation, and some very “robust” discussions the final four have been decided.

1. Dreams Are Free at Winton November 19,2023. How could do a horse that was some far off them with 600 to go get up and win so emphatically for trainer-driver Nathan Williamson? It was an amazing performance that went viral on social media.

2. Rosie at Auckland February 17, 2023. How happy was trainer Jo Stevens when her Rosie won her first Group race with victory over Double Delight. And to have partner Dylan Ferguson driving as well. It was a feel good moment she described as “unbelievable”.

3. Sarah O’Reilly at Methven October 8 2023. It was one of those bucket list races for Sarah O’Reilly. The country’s leading junior driver has won many  races but to win the Group 3 Methven Cup on her home track was something super special to her, her family and everyone on track. “The Methven Cup is something I’ve always wanted to win since I was a kid – I basically learned to drive on the track.”

4. Wilson House at Manawatu December 12, 2023 – What a day out the 19-year-old had at Palmerston North. He was a nose away from winning six races from six drives. In what was clearly a career highlight (so far) Wilson won five races, and then was edged out of a sixth by the merest of margins. “It was fantastic .. I thought maybe I’d get one or two wins,” he said at the time.

Voting for the “best moment” is open now and will close on Monday January 22 at 1pm
