The inaugural running of The Beautide is finally here.
The $80,000 event will be staged in Hobart on Saturday night, and several contenders had their final hit out last weekend, including two winners on the Launceston card.
The Beautide is set down for 19:51, and as it is race four, it will unfortunately not be a leg of the main quaddie.
The Tier Two meeting of the weekend will be in Launceston on Sunday night.
The Stars
Magician – the Beautide favourite, won his final lead-up event in Launceston Sunday night with a short-half head win on the rating 75 to 105 event.
De Goey – is another Beautide contender who outstayed his rating 58 to 64 rivals on Sunday in a slick 56.1s last half mile.
Geoff Smith – almost didn’t make it to Launceston with a float breakdown but recorded a double with Laid Back Kenny and Letsgobro and in the process, recorded his 200th win as a trainer.
Team Castles – John and his nephew Charlie were also two north-west coast participants to record doubles with Nancestiger and Blue Label, who raced up to his brilliant effort in Hobart the start prior.
Smooth Machete– impressive debut win in Hobart on Friday and looks to be a mean player for the upcoming two-year-old races just round the corner.
