Sydney pacer South Coast Arden will be looking to make the most of the absence of the local fast class pacers that are currently campaigning in Queensland when he contests the Vic Frost Free For All at Tabcorp Park Menangle tomorrow night.
The former Kiwi who joined the Paul Fitzpatrick stable earlier this year has been ultra-impressive since coming to Australia, winning three of his four race starts and despite missing a place at his most recent outing, he lost no admirers when beaten by just over three metres after having a torrid run behind Spirit Of St Louis in the Golden Mile
The six-year-old has drawn awkwardly in gate 10 for tomorrow night’s assignment but despite this, regular driver Gavin Fitzpatrick is quietly confident that the gelding will still perform well even though he faces a big workload to put himself into the race.
“He is a lovely horse that is doing a great job here in Australia,” said Fitzpatrick.
“The draw tomorrow night is not favourable and no doubt he will have to work hard at some stage, but dad has him fit and well, so he is ready to go.”
While there are no immediate plans mapped out for South Coast Arden, Fitzpatrick indicated that the horse would contest the regular Saturday night racing at Menangle, but should a suitable race pop up, and if he is still racing well, connections may consider travelling him away from Sydney.
“There are no real plans set for him. We will let him do the talking as to where he is at,” said Fitzpatrick.
“If a suitable feature race comes up, I am sure that Dad would give him a crack at it as he certainly has the class to do so.”
