Berkshire Park mentor Wayne Dimech is chasing one of the biggest wins of his career on Saturday night.
The 65-year-old has qualified his pacer Naturally Gifted for the $100,000 Gold Chalice Final at Bathurst.
After finishing second in the NSW Derby, Naturally Gifted won his Gold Chalice heat last week in a career best mile rate of 1:53.4 – the fastest of four qualifiers.
Naturally Gifted is third in betting markets at $9 for the feature.
However, before Dimech turns his focus to Bathurst, he has dual starters at Penrith tonight.
Penrith has been fruitful for Dimech over the years and in particular the last two weeks where he has trained winners at the last two Penrith meetings.
Dimech trained a double last week with Yankee Merrywood and Merrywood Paul and both pacers will race each other in race seven tonight.
