IT is one of the highlights of the New South Wales racing calendar and the Riverina Championships are almost here.
The $100,000 Four and Five-Year-Old Riverina Championships will be held at Riverina Paceway on April 8.
Qualifiers for the two finals, one for mares and the other for entires and geldings, will be held a week earlier at the same venue on March 31.
“It is a race series we look forward to each year, one of the pinnacle feature events in the Riverina region,” said Harness Racing New South Wales Chief Executive John Dumesny.
“These Championships support the HRNSW Board’s direction of a marquee event in every region following on from the Newcastle Mile (Hunter), Gold Crown (Western) which will culminate in the TAB Regional Championships in May.”
Last year’s Riverina Championship winners were Yarraman Bella for Brad Hewitt and Ideal Dan for the Jason Grimson and Cameron Hart training and driving combination, with horses from all over the state as well as interstate competing in the series.
