The Harness Breeders NSW Awards Night is fast approaching.
Locked in for January 21 at Tabcorp Park Menangle, the special evening that highlights the many great achievements of breeders and NSW-bred horses across the state last year, will be held in conjunction with the $50,000 Raith Memorial.
The lucrative feature for three-year-old fillies is named in honour of one of harness racing’s breeding pioneers in Jack (J.L) Raith who formed the Harness Breeders NSW Association as HBNSW President Flora Robson describes.
“We run our awards evening in conjunction with the J.L Raith Memorial, named in honour of a man who was so instrumental in breeding,” said Robson.
“He was the original President of the NSW Trotting Horse Breeders’ Association, that is now known as Harness Breeders NSW.
“We have been operating for 71 years this year.
“We have many awards on the night including HBNSW Broodmare of the Year with a $2000 NSW Breeders Bonus, HBNSW Sire of the Year and our special award is the HBNSW Don Clough OAM Award.
“This was created by our Committee to honour Don and his dedication to multiple areas of our sport.
“We also have awards for Blue-bred horses, trotters as well as our aged horse awards too.”
