Menangle pacer Petes Said So gave connections a big thrill racing in the recent Inter Dominion series and now faces his next task.
The gelding will race in tonight’s $50,000 Shirley Turnbull Memorial at Bathurst’s Carnival of Cups meeting.
He will have to overcome an outside second-row draw to be successful in the feature.
Petes Said So qualified for the Inter Dominion Grand Final in Victoria after racing consistently throughout the heats, including a second-placed effort in one of the qualifiers.
He then finished sixth in the final, only beaten nine metres by the winner I Cast No Shadow.
Leading metro trainer Belinda McCarthy has a two-pronged attack in the feature with her recent Menangle winners Jilliby Kung Fu and Mach Shard while premiership-winning horseman Paul Fitzpatrick has his last start winner Jay Ok engaged.
Fitzpatrick raced Zeuss Bromac in the recent Inter Dominion series and the entire finished fifth in the $500,000 final.
The iForm best bets for Monday:
Bathurst best bet
Race 8: Manly Mach (1)
Vast improvement at his past couple suggest he will take some stopping on pole position.
Bathurst next best
Race 7: Tough Talks (2)
Unlucky not to finish closer here last and draws to keep favourite players very honest.
Dubbo best bet
Race 5: Yareadyfreddy (6)
Talented type who will be hard to beat if he brings his best.
Leeton best bet
Race 2: Be My Girl (1)
A filly on the rise who should lead from this draw and from there looks awfully hard to run down.
