With six Group 1 wins already in the bank this season Bernie Hewitt is on a quest for at least two more this season.
The Bathurst horseman has won all of his Group 1 races this year with his juvenile pacers Ripp and Jewel Melody and Hewitt will be hoping both can add another feature to their glowing list of credits in Victoria this Saturday night.
Ripp has drawn barrier three in the $200,000 Breeders Crown three-year-old boys final at Melton and will be driven by Hewitt’s son, Doug.
Hewitt has also qualified Mach Assassin for the feature that he will drive himself.
Hewitt will also take the reins behind Jewel Melody in the $300,000 Breeders Crown two-year-old fillies final from barrier five.
Before heading south again, Hewitt has seven horses nominated at Bathurst tonight.

Bathurst next best
Race 7: Just Rhythm (1)
Horrible numerical form but can be prominent trialling in impressive fashion at Bathurst.
