Gunbower secretary Peter O’Shea said Sunday’s cup day was going to be “a great day out” with great take-up of the umbrella packages on the lawn and only a couple of VIP packages left to sell.
The big highlight however will be for people who want to find out more about horses in general with all sorts of displays on the day, all free.
“We’ll have people showing how horses are shod, selfies can be taken with top trotter Claudys Princess and HRV HERO (HRV’s life-after-racing program) horse Triple Vance, and we’ve got equestrian demonstrations, pony clubs and dressage. All of that will be between races,” he said.
There will even be a gumboot throwing competition with a cash prize up for grabs to the winner – come and see how good you are at that!
“The cup meeting has always been well-attended but this year we’re trying to do things a bit differently,” O’Shea said.
“It’s about people having a great day at the trots. The weather’s going to be perfect and we’ve got heaps of entertainment for the whole family, plus loads of giveaways, bars open, it’s just going to be a great day out.
“The whole place is nice and green, the lawns look great and there’s a $1000 bet up for grabs on the Pacing Cup thanks to the TrotSelfies competition.
“We’ll be busy all day that’s for sure! But we’re really looking forward to it.”
HRV will also be giving away Trots merchandise from The Trots Cruiser, which on-course patrons will be able to enter to win.
Bookings are selling fast so ring Peter O’Shea (0402 802 170) quickly to avoid disappointment to secure your VIP package on Sunday.
There will be plenty of space on course on the day. Entry is $10 a head with children under 16 admitted free.
