Harness Racing fans will get to see some of their favourite horses take to the track in special workouts being held at Gloucester Park on Friday. Leading contenders Shannonsablast, Franco Ledger, Flaming Flutter, Major Crocker and Mach Beauty will get a good look at the recently revamped circuit between races in a series of workouts.
Mach Beauty’s trainer Shane Tritton is over the moon with his pacers progress going into the series, and expects his horse to work very well on Friday.
“Gary Hall jnr will let him roll over a mile… He will benefit from a decent hit out”.
Shannonsablast will join the Geoff Webster trained pair Flaming Flutter and Franco Ledger in a three horse session after the fourth race, the Ross North Homes Trotters Handicap. Franco Ledger had a scare at Melbourne Airport leaving him scratches to his hip and abdomen. Webster said while the incident wasn’t ideal, it hasn’t set his pacer back at all for the series.
“He scrambled a bit when they put him on (the plane) and took some skin off, but he has come off well and I think he will be fine”
TABtouch has tightened the odds for Lennytheshark in fixed markets, into $3.80 after opening at $11.00. Trainer David Aiken says the horse is on the improve after leaving rivals in his wake in the Smoken Up Sprint last Friday.
“He is really sound at the moment and we are really looking forward to it (the series)”
The first heat of the $1.8m series will be run at Gloucester Park on November 27 culminating in a $1.3m Grand Final on December 13.
