Hidden Talent has Oaks assignments on her radar after her stunning win in the Group 3 Canterbury Spa and Pool Sires Stakes Classique.
The Nathan Williamson trained filly produced an incredible victory when storming down the outside of the Addington track from last to win the feature event. She remains unbeaten after three career starts.
The three-year-old had a massive task in front of her at the 400m considering there hadn’t been a lot of speed on during the 1980m Sires Stakes Classique and she had the whole field to get past.
Nathan Williamson admitted he had his concerns during the running before his filly surprised him in the best possible style.
“It was playing into the leaders’ hands a wee bit but I couldn’t really do much else.”
“But she has got a good turn of foot and she showed that tonight.”
“It took me by surprise a little bit, I wasn’t hugely confident with it being her first trip away, but she got the job done which was great.”
Williamson and Hidden Talent will now head back to Southland with another feature event in their sights.
“We will get home and reboot and then have a crack at the Southland Trotting Oaks.”
“Possibly after that, I might give her a wee freshen up and regroup and then set her for the New Zealand Trotting Oaks.”
“It is about six or seven weeks later, at the end of November, so that is the bit of a plan we have got.”
Hidden Talent headed a Williamson trifecta in the Sires Stakes Classique with the Phil Williamson trained Majestic Love second and the Matthew Williamson owned and driven Minnie McGoogan third.
Both Majestic Love and Hidden Talent are raced by the Griffins Syndicate.
Spreydon Lodge took honours in Thursday night’s feature pace, but not in the order punters expected.
After not getting the racing room he needed in his first up third, All Stars pacer Franco Mac made full use of the passing lane to score a big win for Olivia Thornley.
The three-year-old outsprinted his stablemate and favourite Franco Indie (3rd) and the fast-finishing Franco Norton to complete a trifecta for breeders Spreydon Lodge.
