Former Hunter Valley-based driver Jack Callaghan has risen to the top quickly in harness racing.

Starting his career in the 2017/18 season, the 20-year-old is currently the second top driver in NSW.

Callaghan reached 100 wins across Australia for the season when successful with the trotter Law Legend at Menangle on Tuesday and is just the second driver in the state to do so this year.

The reinsman now has his next targets in sight with four drives at Newcastle tonight.

He will then fly to Queensland tomorrow for four Group drives.

He has landed a catch drive on the Emma Stewart-trained Beyond Delight in the $305,000 Rising Sun.

Callaghan will also drive Majestic Harry in the Group 1 Darrell Alexander Trotting Championship Final as well as Spirit Of St Louis in the Mr Feelgood Open and Fairy Tinkabell in the Fleur De Lil Ladyship Stakes.

The iForm best bets for Friday:

Newcastle best bet

Race 3: I Am Marquez (3)

Needed a medic last start but will take some stopping first up for the new yard after trialling impressively at Menangle.

Newcastle next best

Race 6: Cloudin Up (9)

Bold front running exhibition here last and should regard highly once more.

Around the tracks

Wagga best bet

Race 5: Yareadyfreddy (3)

Progressive 3yo in an astute yard that looks well placed from a kind draw.

Dubbo best bet

Race 7: Uncle Tony (6)

Draws wide but looking for a positive drive and this looks to be a class drop for him.
