ALTHOUGH there are six runners in the field, the final event at Globe Derby on Saturday night is a race in two.
With three representatives each in the 2230-metre event, the handicap is a contest between the Frank Pullicino and Luke O’Neill stables.
Along with matching numbers, the pair also have one of the equal favourites!
Pullicino’s crew consists of Skyline, Regal Assassin and Muscletonian, which sits at the top of early markets at $2.
O’Neill’s trio is made up of Enrolled, Armchair Drive and Redriverdebba, which is the joint $2 elect.
Redriverdebba appears to have the barrier advantage after receiving the pole.
Making her hometown return following an interstate campaign, Redriverdebba was triumphant at the same venue last week.
Rating his three as “solid chances”, O’Neill believes Redriverdebba is his best winning prospect.
“She was going good before she left, but being in Victoria sharpened her up,” O’Neill said. “She wasn’t really competitive but didn’t disgrace herself against better horses either.
“I was happy with her efforts over there and the way she has felt since she got back.
“This looks like another winnable race for her.”
Enrolled will begin from two, while Armchair Drive faces a 10-metre handicap.
“Enrolled can certainly win but he is a tricky horse,” O’Neill said. “One week you’ve got him the next you haven’t…you don’t know which attitude will turn up.
“I found out Armchair Drive was anemic and since treating him he has been a lot better as his form shows.”
Despite the market, O’Neill believes Skyline is the biggest threat to his runners.
Skyline is listed at $34 from his 10-metre mark.
“I thought Skyline finished off very well last start and think he is the one to look out for,” O’Neill said.
