Champion Bathurst horseman Steve Turnbull is nearing a significant milestone and has a strong chance to add to that at his local track tonight.
As electronic records have been kept, Turnbull has trained 3991 winners.
With 40 of those wins obtained this year, Turnbull is on target to reach 4000 winners this season.
The 65-year-old mentor has seven horses engaged at Bathurst tonight.
The drives on Turnbull’s horses will be shared amongst his children Nathan, Amanda and Mitch.
Turnbull, a premiership-winning trainer, is amongst the top 10 mentors in NSW this season.
Sitting in fifth position, Turnbull is only seven wins behind leading trainer KerryAnn Morris.
