Riverina harness racing driver Jackson Painting will head to Menangle this Saturday night on a special mission.
And that is to win the $100,000 Regional Championships State Final with Rocknroll Runa.
The David Kennedy-trained pacer earned his way into the Group 1 when winning the Riverina Final at Wagga on Friday night.
It gave Painting the biggest win of his career being his first Group 1 success just 11 days after becoming a father for the first time.
“It’s an unreal feeling . . . that’s what we are in the game for and to do it in front of family and friends makes it even better,” said Painting.
Rocknroll Runa won in a slick 1:54.2.
“He’s an untapped horse with untapped ability,” said Painting.
“His biggest asset is his point-to-point speed and Menangle will suit him down to the ground.”
Rocknroll Runa has drawn barrier two in the State Final.
