Nicole and Dean Molander were riding high again moments after the shock news Keystone Del would be transferred from their stables, with Will Mach My Word leading throughout to win the City of Melton Plate on Saturday night at Melton.
Rated to perfection by Chris Alford, Will Mach My Word scored by three metres from Yankee Rockstar, with Major Crocker a metre away third.
“What a great win,” Dean said. “Once he got to the front Chris drove him a treat and set the win up. It was a great way to win his M0.”
Rating 1:57.2 for the 2240 metres, Will Mach My Words extended his record to 13 wins and five placings from 22 starts.
Despite the promise of bigger victories to come, the Molanders will “take our time” with the son of Mach Three.
“He is only an M1 now, so we’re in now hurry with him,” Dean said. “We’ll just take our time and ease him through the grades.”
