A SUITABLE draw and return to the short trip have Wesaidso in a solid position to break his maiden in Port Pirie tonight.
An ultra-consistent youngster, Wesaidso has been among the placings during his last four starts, with his record sitting at seven placings from 14 outings!
“I like him and he has shown a bit of ability, but isn’t a natural racehorse,” trainer Dale Afford said.
“The penny hasn’t fully dropped with him and when it does he should be able to put a few wins on the board.
“That said, he has done well so far and run placings in some nice races.
“He definitely gets his chance to break his maiden tonight.”
With Afford to take the reins Wesaidso has drawn to search for the lead from barrier two, which has seen the son of Well Said listed as the $5 second elect.
Winner of her last two starts Stanmatilda heads the market at $1.70 from the inside of the second row.
“It’s not the easiest race being a three-year-old against older horses, but he’s just got to be a little better than last time, which I expect he will,” Afford said.
“His last start was his first time over 2050 metres and now he is back to a mile which suits him better at this point.
“His work at home has been good and hopefully tonight will be his night.
“If he does go well enough I may even take him to Victor Harbor for a heat of the Derby and see if he can make the Final.
“I’m not saying he can win the Final, but it will be good to have him in the race.”
