One of trainer Bernie Hewitt’s leading charges towards tonight’s Gold Crown heats at Bathurst has been scratched.
Last start Group 2 winner Rippin Rupert has been withdrawn from his heat tonight, however, Hewitt still has nine hopefuls aimed at the qualifiers.
With seven heats of the Gold Crown, a win tonight will be vital to qualify for the $110,000 final on March 25.
The fastest three second-placings will also make their way through to the final.
Aside from the Gold Crown heats, trotters will make an appearance at Bathurst tonight with the TAB Trotters Cup.
The Smooth Satin Cup, race one, is also a feature on the program.

Newcastle best bet
Race 5: Geraldton Wax (5)
Arrives from Victoria with form that reads well for this and a recent trial also adds merit to her claims.
Wagga best bet
Race 8: Schiavone (1)
Draws to lead and looks to have one real danger and she beat that horse home last time. Should be winning.
