Have connections of talented Victorian pacer Bondi Lockdown jeopardised his chances of a Miracle Mile berth?
The Group 1 winner was missing from the nominations of the qualifying sprints at Menangle this Saturday night.
After finishing a gallant second in last weekend’s $250,000 Chariots Of Fire to Better Eclipse, trainer-driver Aaron Dunn is hoping that will be enough for the Directors of Club Menangle to give his pacer an invitation to the $1million race at Menangle on March 5.
Bondi Lockdown sat outside the leader throughout the Chariots Of Fire when they ran an age record mile rate of one minute and 47.6 seconds.
The Miracle Mile field is selected from the winners of the Newcastle Mile, Chariots Of Fire and the first two placegetters in Saturday night’s two heats.
That leaves two ‘wildcard’ options to make the remainder of the Miracle Mile field with the winner of the Ladyship Mile also a considered invitation.
