On the back of his most successful season to date reinsman Jack Callaghan has wasted no time starting the new season where he left off.
The 20-year-old won the Group 3 Maitland Intercity Pace last week with Chevron Art, the first feature race in New South Wales for the year.
Callaghan ended last season with 157 winners and is ready to add to his record in the New Year with five drives at Newcastle tonight.
Callaghan was raised in the Hunter Valley before moving to Sydney’s south to work for Cobbitty Equine Farm.
Callaghan will be representing the Belinda McCarthy interstate at Bendigo tomorrow night.
Callaghan will drive Spirit Of St Louis in the Group 2 Bendigo Cup as well as Aldebaran Revani in the Group 1 Maori Mile.
Callaghan has also picked up a drive for the powerful Emma Stewart stable with Ample Power.
The iForm best bets for today:
Newcastle best bet
Race 8: Nifty Studleigh (5)
Could have their measure with stronger form than it appears against tougher opposition.
Newcastle next best
Race 7: Miss Piggy Wiggy (2)
Makes her presence felt far from disgraced here last after an early error.
Around the tracks
Wagga best bet
Race 5: Better Than Magic (8)
Hit the line well last time, despite copping a check. Looks to be down in class here.
Bathurst best bet
Race 6: Yarraman Bella (1)
Game last time when she had a tough run in front in a strong race. Should get it easier here.
