Five-year-old Heez Our Perseus, purchased for $15,000 eleven months ago by Karen Hall, Maddison Brown and Glen Moore, continues to shine for champion trainer Gary Hall snr.
The New Zealand-bred gelding was a $7.40 chance when Gary Hall jnr drove him to an easy victory in the 2130m Retravision Pace at Gloucester Park on Friday night. This took his record for his new connections to 16 starts for five wins, five placings and stakes of $47,550.
His career record now stands at 39 starts for ten wins, eight placings and $75,122.
He started out wide at barrier eight on Friday night and Hall quickly had him nicely positioned in sixth place, one-out and two-back. Fifty Five Reborn, the $2.80 favourite worked hard outside the pacemaker Talkerup before getting to the front 420m from home.
It was then that Hall switched Heez Our Perseus three wide, and the Alta Christiano gelding ran home strongly to take the lead 90om from the post on the way to beating Fifty Five reborn by two and a half lengths, rating 1.56.6.
Hall snr brought up a training double when Nota Bene Denario, the $1.70 favourite, proved too strong for his 11 rivals in the 2130m Retravision, For All The Electrical Stuff You Love Pace.
Nota Bene Denario also gave Hall jnr the third leg of a driving quartet. Like Heez Our Perseus, Nota Bene Denario started from the No. 8 barrier, with Hall sending him forward with a three-wide burst in the first lap to take up the running 900m after the start. He sprinted over the final 400m in 27.8sec. and won by a length and a half from $8 chance Alice Kay, who was fifth, three back on the pegs at the bell, before finishing fast.
Nota Bene Denario, a New Zealand-bred six-year-old, has been a good moneyspinner, having earned $128,370 from ten wins and 31 placings from 66 starts. His 17 WA starts have produced four wins and nine placings.
