Lot 42 American Ideal – Lis Tureen

A new dawn for harness racing beckons as we look forward to a spectacular day on the Gold Coast on Sunday, January 23, where an astonishing line up of 92 lots (81 pacers and 11 trotters) have been offered up by APG’S loyal and insightful Qld breeders.

The release of both the online catalogue (10/01/2022) and the printed “Bible For Success” (as it’s known), will showcase the finest quality yearlings ever assembled in Queensland. This selection should excite those looking to invest within the world of Harness Racing.

With more than $400,000 in local APG prizemoney, additionally QLD Gold Bullion Filly & Colt winners will progress straight through to the massive 2 x $750,000 Menangle Final should they elect to nominate.  For the first time in the history of Harness Racing, the very best Filly & Colt out of the Neds – APG 2022 QLD Sale will get to compete with the nation’s best on a phenomenal night of racing that can not to be missed.

The opportunities for investors in Harness Racing right now has never been better than in QLD. This is the sale where buyers get additional advantages in securing APG yearlings with massive upside. Shrewd buyers will understand the unmatched combination of ownership bonus’s and incentives that APG / QBRED yearlings have.

The QBRED Incentive Scheme continues to reward participants who own QBRED eligible horses in Queensland. This is achieved through the distribution of over $3.5 million in QBRED bonuses and feature race stakes, with prospective breeders and owners able to share in these benefits. The QBRED Incentive scheme sees the first-win bonus set at $14,000 at any age (regardless of how many interstate wins they may have had), as well as a further $7,500 cash bonus for their first QLD win in a subsequent season. And this is all on top of APG’S $400,000 in local prize money.

With just 43 pacing colts and 38 pacing fillies on offer to compete for the massive $400,00,00 in local prize money, you can see why APG QLD has the reputation of the sale with the “Biggest Bang For Your Buck” .

The next stallion I would like to highlight is American Ideal.

A dominant dual hemisphere sire, the son of Western Ideal is a gun sire on both sides of the equator. With progeny career earnings well over $150,000 million worldwide, American Ideal is easily one of the ‘big boys’ in the sport of Harness Racing.  He leaves precocious juvenile speed, blue riband 3YO performers and grand circuit performers, Woodlands, like many believe he is  – the complete package.

Some exceptional examples of progeny by American Ideal available on the Gold Coast are:

Lot 1 – American Ideal – Annika Magic – Grinfromeartoear –  A great example of this cross is Ideal Cowboy winner of $773,985. The successes and incredible top performers American Ideal has had from the influence of broodmare sires from the Adios line (through Abercrombie) is almost inconceivable. He’s Watching (Real Desire) and Soho Tribeca (an extension of the Abercrombie through Art Major) are both bred this way. This very stylish colt out of a $197,084 winning mare is a must see on sales day. Contact Burwood on 0428 718 533 for details.

Lot 32 – American Ideal – Im Off Limits  – Artiscape  – a next level colt with a cross that averages north of $148,000 in NZ for average earnings per starter. The star mare (bred on incredible American Ideal – Artiscape cross like Lot 32), The Orange Agent won $725,541 before her early retirement. What’s even more exciting about the prospects for Lot 32 is that he just happens to a full brother of the outstanding mare Sally Fletcher winner of more than $497,000. Buyers visiting the Gold Coast on January 23 need to mark this hugely exciting prospect as a must see.

Lot 42 – American Ideal – Lis Tureen – Lis Mara – American Jewel $1,834,823 (CamLuck). This is the mare’s first colt and only 2nd  living foal. It’s also extraordinary how well American Ideal has also done with Meadow Skipper line broodmare sires and particularly those through Cam Fella. 4 of his top 7, (which includes American Jewel) are bred this way, the other 3 are:

  • Heston Blue Chip $1,779,773
  • Sunfire Blue Chip $1,635,858
  • American History $1,223,297

American Ideal is having a dream run with 21% of his offspring of racing age winning north of $100,000 in NA – this is not common in our sport. While the above focuses on the sire American Ideal, Lot 42’s dam Lis Tureen also had a remarkable run of 15 wins from16 starts and the non-win was a margin of HFHD. Expectations are extremely high for the future of this very impressive colt.

Lot 44 – American Ideal – Merrymach – Mach Three. A solid example of this cross is American Sara winner of $312,097. Youaremycandygirl the $1,647,229 winning race mare from NA is bred on the American Ideal over Volomite through Direct Scooter like Lot 42. I’m told buyers should expect a very strong looking filly that is from the very famous N31. This pedigree has the 1982 horse of the year Armalight in it.

Lot 48 – American Ideal – Might And Main – Art Major. This tantalizing filly is bred (and being prepared by Burwood) on the same and wildly successful American Ideal over Art Major over Fake Left cross that matches  Soho Tribeca. A 1:53.8 – $1,103,854  winner that stands at 16.1 hands and is one of the best racehorses to grace our tracks in modern times. A striking son of the outstanding sire AMERICAN IDEAL and out of Australian broodmare of the year and prolific producer PIXEL PERFECT. This filly deserves to be paraded at length on sales morning as she has the pedigree power behind her.

Lot 69 – American Ideal – Secret Desire – Real Desire. This filly is bred on the same cross as He’s Watching, diminutive in size but a giant as far as his accomplishments, has been called harness racing’s bargain of the century. The $3,000 yearling earned over a million dollars during his career and became the co-fastest pacer in history (at the time) with his 1:46.4 victory in pacing’s most prestigious 3-year-old event, the Meadowlands Pace.

He was undefeated as a 2-year-old, taking eight consecutive wins in New York Sire Stakes races, including the $225,000 final. Along the way he blazed to world marks over Tioga’s 5/8-mile track and Yonkers’ half-mile oval. His accomplishments led him to the title of 2-Year-Old Pacing Colt of the Year.

After placing in the $1,000,000 North America Cup at 3, he made his calling card the pacing’s classic event, the Meadowlands Pace. His all-age world record time of 1:46.4 and final quarter of :25.3 in that race made driver Tim Tetrick remark, “My horse really exploded tonight… it was unbelievable. He’s a very special colt, very fast. He’s not big, but he’s mighty!”

Lot 71 – American Ideal – Shesgotemgood – Perfect Art. Again this filly carries that very important Art Major – Perfect Art over Fake Left blood like Soho Tribeca. This intriguing filly is the half-sister to Clintal Do winner of more than $300,000. If you’re looking for a filly come January 23, you better catch up with the team at Burwood and take a serious look at Lot 71.
