Trainer Michael Formosa won the 2009 Inter City Pace Final and he is back to try and win it again.
Formosa has Military Man in a heat of the time-honoured series at Maitland tonight and has drawn barrier two in the opening heat.
Along with local trainers there are many Sydney trainers looking to qualify their horses for the $30,000 final at Maitland on January 2.
Sydney trainers have dominated the feature in recent years with Formosa being the last Hunter Valley horseman to win the feature.
The Maitland City Cup will also be held tonight with an even mix of local and Sydney-based horses aimed at the $14,790 event.
